Bartolina Sisa is a heroine from Bolivia who dedicated her life fighting against colonial powers. She and her husband, Indigenous warrior Tupac Katari, laid siege on the city of La Paz in 1781 and stirred about 40,000 Indigenous fighters to join their army. Her cause was the emancipation of Aymara people from colonial imposition.
